Re-enrolment

Re-enrolment in doctoral studies is not automatic.

Re-enrolment in the second or third year of a doctorate may be refused in the event of an unfavourable evaluation of the previous year.
  • Before any request for re-registration, the thesis follow-up committee must be convened, see the follow-up committee page.
  • Any request for re-enrolment in the second and third year must be accompanied by the minutes of the follow-up committee meeting as well as the ED EAS interim report form, which must be completed and signed by the doctoral student and his/her thesis director (available in word and pdf format on the "useful documents" page) and filed in the doctoral student's ADUM profile.
  • The duration of the doctorate is limited to 36 months (except in certain cases of a joint doctorate, see the joint doctoral agreement):
    • re-enrolment in the fourth year is a derogation which must be the subject of a reasoned and substantiated request. In addition, 12 months of funding must be proposed.
    • All applications for re-enrolment in the fourth year must be accompanied by an EEA ED waiver application form (available in word and pdf format on the "useful documents" page) which must be completed and signed by the doctoral student and his/her thesis supervisor.
    • In the case where the thesis jury was previously proposed before the end of the third year or at the request for re-enrolment in the fourth year and where the latter is necessary for the defence to actually take place at the beginning of the fourth year, it is not necessary to fill in the derogation request form of the ED EEA and to convene the follow-up committee.
  • Re-enrolment in the fifth year is prohibited except in very exceptional cases (health, maternity leave, etc.).
All re-registration requests are made in two steps described below

STEP 1: Request for proposal for re-registration with the doctoral school
This request must be made via ADUM application accessible on the Internet via a WEB browser.
[style4

  • For a 2A or 3A application: the intermediate report of the ED EEA completed and signed by the doctoral student and his thesis director (available in word format and in pdf format on the "useful documents" page)
  • For a request for re-enrolment in 4A: the ED EEA waiver request form completed and signed by the doctoral student and his thesis supervisor (form available in word format and in pdf format on the "useful documents" page)
  • In all cases: minutes of the Monitoring Committee meeting (form available in word and pdf format on the "useful documents" page)

When the “ADUM” profile is complete (all tabs are green), the candidate submits their request, via the “transmission of data for file processing” button.

Please note that after the submission you cannot modify or add data/documents.

After submission, the opinions of the thesis and laboratory directors will be solicited. The profile will then be studied by the ED. The ED cannot valid the first registration if any of the information or one of the documents listed above is missing. Please be rigorous in compiling the file, an incomplete file being the main cause of delays in its processing.

STEP 2 : Registration with the education service of the registration institution.

If the ED EEA decides to propose you the registration, you must follow the enrolment procedure of the institution concerned.
