International mobility

There are several possibilities of mobility for a PhD student:

  • the thesis co-supervising, which allows you to do a PhD thesis jointly with another university abroad and to obtain two diplomas after a single defense;
  • the thesis co-supervision, which allows research work to be carried out in two universities with two thesis supervisors ;
  • the research stay in a university, research centre abroad ;
  • the participation in international conferences and international PhD schools.

Funding for mobility:

Mobility imposes additional expenses (travel, stay, possibly visa and insurance) and therefore requires specific funding.

A longer stay requires looking for funding among the many existing programs very early, 6 months to 1 year before mobility.

The EEA Doctoral School finances the participation in international conferences or national and international PhD schools of some PhD students: for more details see the page Financial support.
