DURING THE 36 MONTHS OF DOCTORATE, THE PHD STUDENT MUST FOLLOW AND VALIDATE AT LEAST 120 HOURS OF TRAINING.
For all PhD students: at least one ethics training course to be taken during the 36 months of the thesis (see the UdL training catalogue)
THESE 120 HOURS ARE DIVIDED INTO 3 TYPES OF TRAINING:
- Ns hours of scientific training (with Ns >= 40h),
- Np hours of transverse training (with Np >= 20h). It must include one course on Ethics (see the UdL training catalogue).
- Ng hours of training specific to the doctoral school. It must include 12 hours of tutorials and 3 seminars.
These are hours of classroom training including MOOC "Massive Open Online Courses" under specific conditions.
MOOCs Conditions
All MOOCs from the UdL catalog can be selected without any limitations (more than one MOOC)
It is possible to select a maximum of one MOOC outside the UdL catalog (for example from foreign universities), in this case the following rules are applied :
- a maximum of 20 hours is applied for the validation, that is to say that a MOOC of duration greater than 20 hours will count only for 20 hours.
- For a MOOC to be validated by the ED, the number of hours must be certified by the organization and a training program must be attached. It is therefore imperative to check, before starting the training, that the organization will be able to provide the certificate with the number of hours followed.
Purpose of the training
The objective of scientific training is twofold:
The objective of the transverse training is to help the future doctor to prepare his insertion in the professional world. The practical modalities are defined here.
The objective of the training specfici to the doctoral school is to help the doctoral student to participate in the daily life of research within his institutions. The practical modalities are defined here.
Training is compulsory for all doctoral students. No exemption will be granted.
- to acquire a synthetic vision of the scientific and technological disciplines of the EEA and more particularly of the EEA community in Lyon ;
- to complete his/her specialized academic scientific training on a topic related to the thesis subject.
Important
The thesis defense cannot be authorized if these trainings have not been carried out and validated by the EEA Doctoral School. The hours completed will only be validated if (for activities other than EEA tutorials) the validation form including the description of the training and a certificate of completion are sent to the Doctoral School via SIGED.
